Establishing an impartially investigation process in place is essential for ensuring a safe and inclusive work environment, which helps in building a culture of trust and ‘Speak Up’ within the organisation. This process takes time, subject knowledge, effort, and patience of the Employee Relations team.
The inquiry process is to discover further details about the employee concern, what led to or triggered the employee grievance and possible employee misconduct. It is essential to get to the bottom of the complaint as each one has the possibility of becoming a lawsuit.
At all times the grievant need to be updated on the proceedings through immediate acknowledgment, interim and holding responses and closure communication. Therefore, ER / HR investigations need to be taken very seriously in the organisation to ensure the harmful behaviors discontinue immediately. Quick action towards a complaint will prevent internal issues before they evolve widespread. It will also improve the organization’s culture and reputation as an excellent place to work.
